Sheriff Louis Ackal advises that Detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Bureau of Investigations arrested three suspects who are believed to be involved in a home invasion that occurred on the 400 Block of James Street in New Iberia. According to Detectives the three suspects stormed their way into a residence at approximately 8:00 a.m. as the 84 year old home owner was present. The suspects forced the 84 year old victim to the floor and began to ransack the residence as they searched for items to steal. It was learned by detectives that the two of the suspects armed themselves with shotguns that belonged to the victim while they were searching the residence. During the incident, the victim's son arrived at the residence without knowing what was taking place. As soon as the suspects observed the victims son arrive, they fled on foot from the residence. Deputies were able to apprehend two of the suspects after a brief foot pursuit. The third suspect was captured later and brought to the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Patrol Center for questioning. Detectives arrested the two male juveniles, ages 15 and 16 who were then charged with aggravated burglary, home invasion, flight from an officer and simple battery. The third suspect, Devone Jeanlewis DOB 11/22/1994, was later located and arrested. He was also charged with aggravated burglary, home invasion, flight from and officer and simple battery. Jeanlewis was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail and the two juvenile suspects were transported and booked into the St. James Juvenile Facility.
