FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Sheriff Louis Ackal asks the public as a reminder to keep their vehicles locked and not leave any valuables in their vehicles when it is unattended. The majority of vehicle burglaries occur when vehicles are left unlocked and criminals will literally go from vehicle to vehicle in a neighborhood looking to find one that is unlocked. Sheriff Ackal states "Criminals are lazy and will preferably use the least amount of effort necessary to commit a burglary. However, a small amount of effort, like locking a vehicle, will go a long way to help prevent crime".
Also, citizen of Iberia Parish can contact Sgt. Anthony Green about organizing a Neighborhood Watch Group for their area of the community. Sgt. Green can be reached at 337-369-3714.
